Share Your World 24 September 2018

Here are my answers to Share Your World from Sparks from a Combustible Mind.

Last week I asked a question about favorite beverages and the overwhelming favorite was coffee.   If you drink coffee, how do you like it best?  Hot, cold, iced, with cream, with sugar or black as black?

Did you know the biggest competition to Coca Cola is COFFEE!  Coffee has more caffeine that coke but NO SUGAR!

I think I’ve mentioned this before – My coffee must be STRONG, HOT, BLACK and SUGARLESS

Friends of mine who understand my passion of coffee gave me an Italian Coffee Pot which makes excellent strong coffee from beans that I get from my favourite coffee shop.     I don’t like the coffee to be too bitter as I don’t take sugar.   But I hate weak coffee – do not water it down. Having said that – Americana is great but in Italy they consider this inferior as I found out when I told a barrister in my poor Italian that Italian coffee was great.  Her reply in excellent Italian was – Yes Italian coffee is good but Americana is NOT!   The next day I went to the same coffee shop and ordered Espresso – She was delighted!  The Italians and most Europeans, I think, drink espresso to start the day.   They think the rest of us are crazy to want a longer drink like Americana.   I do enjoy a good espresso – but usually I like to linger over a long, hot drink.  A good coffee with dark chocolate is heaven.  A croissant with an espresso for breakfast when you’re travelling is enough!

If you don’t drink coffee, how has that beverage impacted YOUR world?

I DO drink coffee!  If the coffee is BAD I get MAD.

In your opinion, what’s the greatest invention of our age?

The internet!   Seriously – it’s just the best.  We’ve made it to the future; what’s not to like.   It keeps us in touch with the real world. I can see what my family, scattered around the world, are up to.  I can even see them on Skype, Whatsapp, FaceTime or any other type of modern communication.   Knowledge is at my finger tips.  When I’m in danger I can instantly get help.  I’m a Digigran.  I love my devices!

Global warming?  Reality or myth?

It’s real!   My grandfather blamed Space Travel!  I do whatever I can to save the planet.

Are you an explorer or more a home body?

I’m an explorer for sure.  I LOVE travelling all over but my favourite form of travelling is caravan camping in the wilds of Africa.

and last:

What were you grateful for this week?

So many things – family is right up at the top – I visited a darling aunt in Cape Town on her birthday and attended a brother-in-law’s 70th birthday party.   I am most grateful that another brother-in-law who had a bad fall and had stitches in his head is recovering well.  Love you Brian!

I’m back from a European Adventure and am very grateful that I was able to see so many stunning places, meet extraordinary people and meet up with friends and family who have migrated to exotic places.    You guys – all is forgiven – COME HOME!

  1. Yes coffee with chocolate is my best. Coffee must taste like coffee and linger on the roof top of my mouth for some time. Sorry to hear about Brian please pass on our good wishes and a speedy recovery.

  2. I love coffee with chocolate too but Mine needs to be sweet like chocolate lalalalaaaa 😁. It’s also only a treat. My stomach doesn’t approve. But I can tell you the Germans nor the British usually drink espresso for breakfast. Just plain normal coffee…. or of course tea 😁.

    • I am very aware that the British are not that into coffee although that seems to be changing now. I didn’t know the Germans were more into tea.
I DO like sweet chocolate but it doesn’t like me. I can get away with dark chocolate – perhaps because it is not as tempting to over indulge in it. I do like it to have a bit of mint, salt, or chili in it.

      • Oh yes definitely spices. My favourites are cinnamon, cards in and cloves. Delicious. Apparently the Northern Germans drink more tea than the British but in general the Germans drink more and more tea. We are rather health conscious I think. 😁
